Description of Core Competency

The fourth competency pertains to an instructors knowledge of their role within the context of key university characteristics, including student population, institution type, leadership structures, funding sources, and departmental mechanisms. By mastering this competency, rising educators demonstrate their capacity to function within the multiple structures of a university, successfully pursuing their research ambitions and teaching priorities. In turn, this informs the ability to select an environment that they will best function in.
